Manual Handling – Moving and handling people safely

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In care homes, Hospitals and Residential homes manual handling can be an everyday occurrence, and hoists are one of the most common manual handling aids used in order to help both staff and residents move more easily and with lower risks.

For example, hoists can be used in to raise people that have fallen, help them to stand, help them to move, lift them into and out of bed or into or out of the bath.

You don’t have to be a carer as in a community carer to do this course. It maybe you have a family member that needs hoisting and you want to be able to help them.

It is important you are trained by a competent person  to ensure you reduce the risk to yourself and the patient. We are happy to come to your place of work and train you with your equipment. This can be done a 6 hour new first time classes or 3 hour refresher courses. We also provide training in other equipment so just let us know what you have and we will come prepared.
